Craps Dice Control:   Myths Debunked

Dice Control Myths Debunked DICE CONTROL IS POSSIBLE, just because those who cannot do it say it cannot be done does not make it impossible! Dice Control does not mean that you must be able to control the dice to the degree that you can predict the outcome of every throw. Dice control means that you can, with practice, gain enough influence over the results to overcome the very slight house/casino edge. In fact one only has to reduce the random occurrence of throwing the losing seven from one in six throws to one in six point five throws to gain a healthy edge over the casino. THAT DOES NOT SEEM IMPOSSIBLE, DOES IT?

DICE CONTROL CAN NOT WORK BECAUSE THE THROWER MUST HIT THE BACK WALL and the pyramids will randomize the results. If thrown correctly with the correct velocity and trajectory the die will land in a manner that allows them to bounce off the table surface once and tap the points of the pyramids greatly reducing or eliminating the randomizing effect.

SETTING THE DICE IS ALLOWED BY THE CASINOS so dice setters must not be able to influence the outcome of their throws. I have seen many dice setters at the craps tables, the vast majority of whom have no idea why they are setting the dice other than it makes them lucky or it feels right to throw the dice after being set a certain way or it makes them look like they know what they are doing. Dice setting alone does not lead to dice control so why wouldn't the casinos allow it? Dice setting with the correct sets combined with the correct grip and the correct delivery (throw) and lots of practice leads to ones ability to control the dice. Dice setting alone accomplishes nothing.

DICE CONTROL CANNOT WORK BECAUSE OF THE PADDING THE CASINO PLACES UNDER THE TABLE FELT. The padding under the table felt only affects the initial bounce of the die when they hit the table. Table bounce does affect dice control and table bounce varies from casino to casino. But, an experienced dice controller can easily determine how to adjust his throw to account for the different table bounces encountered. In fact most find it more difficult to throw on a very hard table surface than one with a little padding.
